Well i got around to putting the shakles in yesterday. I love the new rear hight. I havent done the TT yet as i'm still waiting to get the tires. Right now, i'm having a lot of fun with the raked look of the truck.

i would like to keep this look when i go to 32s, so that means i need an add-a-leaf. I got 2 questions on them that wern't really answered in searching.

1. how hard an install is the add-a-leaf compaired to a shackle install?

2. how does it affect the ride? choppier? stiffer? more prone to buck and bounce when in turns?

BTW, i picked bridgstone dualer MTs. they look good and suposed to last 65,000 miles. They are also on sale at Hogan Tire.

oh yeah.... if i do an add-a-leaf, should i go for one of those progressive rate springs with built in roller shakle or a lev-a-leaf, instead of a leaf thats bolted into the leaf pack? i'm looking for 1" raise, but the same ride qualities.

thanks

Cool ! But pictures are a must, you know that. Quit slackin off man ;)

I sure hope you arent gonna go off road with that valance on there. Get us some pics man, sounds like it looks awesome.

quick solution, hammer some hockey pucks between the last to leafs, bottom leafs that is, that should help, my friends brother did that on a cheve, no problems.

actually the valence is staying on... at least untill i find a sutable alternative to it. eventually i may add a front runner and some sort of bumper, but i'm not planning on going nutts with the truck. i want somthing that will clear industial sites, logging roads and railtoad tracks for my photography, not bogging.

were the pucks hammered in between the leaf pack and the overload spring? thats sounds a bit flimsy, especially when flexing.

I think i'm going to go with the lev-a-leaf kit but wanted to make sure it added hight. (this kit is 2 leafs. one goes in front of the axle and the other behind. they are mounted on the existing leafs, attached by U-bolts. from what i understand, the closer to the ends of the leaft you mount the u-bolt the right hight is increased. i just need to make sure these will give me that inch i want.

pictures will be coming, but i need to get the passenger side fixed first, the body shop is on vacation till the 25th.

its not much harder at all, just take the leaf back out remove the center bolt stick the new one in. i didnt notice much difference in ride in mine but it might be a little stiffer.

well #1 hockey pucks really arent reccommended, there just the cheapest way. If you pound them in far enough, they will stay while flexing.

for a really really poor poor diagram

-------- <place puck between the bottom two :D that is if you have one seperate spring (not curved like the rest, well not curved as much) at the bottom.
