Ray, Edelbrocks say they are good for 0 - 2" inches of lift, but the ones I used had almost no dampening effect whatsoever when I installed them. It was almost as if I didn't even have any shocks. Combined with the fact that I don't run swaybars it was outright scary. My theory is that they were operating out of their intended range, even if they were long enough.
That's a complicated valving system they use to dampen and it's possible that it is not as effective when it's two inches off.
Are you saying the OME shocks are DESIGNED for two inches of lift, or that like the Edelbrocks they are good for "up to two inches" of lift? If they are specifically designed for the lift, I'll look at the OMEs myself.
BTW, the Edelbrocks are supposed to be first class shocks and are very expensive and many here have gotten great results with them. HOWEVER, if you do a lot of offroading I do not recommend that you buy them. My front ones blew apart - the retaining rings at the top and my rear ones loosed their oil within six months after I bought them. I talked to my 4wpw guy last week while ordering some stuff and discussed turning in my rear ones for the guarantee but getting another brand in place of the Edelbrocks since mine didn't seem to be heavy duty enough to take the abuse I was giving them. He informed me that almost all of the Edelbrocks he sold to 4 wheelers in the last year were beginning to be returned. He won't even sell them now if he knows you'll be taking them offroad.
They're evidently a great street shock, but think long and hard before buying a set for fourwheeling.
