I had the recalled wilderness AT's on my explorer. I took them into Firestone, all four were cracked right below the tread on the shoulder of the tire. The crack ran all the way around each tire on both sides. The dealer told me they had already started to seperate but that he would not have replacements for three weeks.
I call the 800 number and was told to buy what I wanted and that I would be reimbursed but that the policy was not fully defined at that time. I found the last five Goodyear Wrangler RTS at the local Goodyear dealer. I am glad I did, the truck rides better and the tires are much quieter than the Firestones.
I live in Iowa, the tires have never had less than 28 lbs of air, I don't tow, carry lots of weight or drive over 75, yet all four tires had started to seperate.
Please let me know if anyone hears the offical reimbursment policy.
