Firestone Wilderness A/T

I don't actually have an explorer anymore (doh) but you guys seem to know more than 99% of the other forums and websites out there.
I have 4 33" firestone wilderness A/T's with almost all their tread on them. My question is: Does anybody else have them? I wanted to take them up the mountains into the snow, but after reading so many negative reviews on them I'm kind of scared to even leave the pavement. My guess is they are just your average run-of-the-mill A/T tire, and I shoulden't expect much from them. Am I right in assuming this? I'm saving for new tires, but I want to know if these are ok offroad as they still have almost all of the tread and I can't validate getting new tires when mine work just fine.

I don't think they recalled any 33s, did they? I don't know what you read in reviews, but they should be as good off road as any other AT tire with similar tread. They just ride like crap and make a lot of noise on pavement compared to BFGs or Michelins, in my opinion.

the recall was only for the 235/75 15's

some people never turned them in... seen an Explorer with these tires on a few weeks ago.

You say you'll be scared to leave the pavement with them on? I would be more scared with them on the pavement period.

they are fine..... a very large portion of the firestone fiasco was FORDS FAULT!

i personally dont think the wilderness ats were good... they have crappy characteristics like poor mud cleaning ability, are audible noisewise, and just werent designed with much more than pavement duty planned... i had general grabber aws and they sucked even worse, if you are going to be doing any real wheeling other than dirt "fire" roads, i would invest in better tires... but they are just regular street tires in my opinion....
