Had to take my heater fan /AKA Blower out because of a funny noise from it, Here is how to!

91 - 94 Explorer`s heater fans can be found on the passenger side at firewall.

In my case, I had to take my conical filter out, and then get the MAF housing out of the way.
I still have the bottom of my stock air-box in place, and it is held by one bolt on the engine side of it, the other side has a couple of knobs which fit into a pair of grommets, if you pull it out be aware of the lower side of the intake tube, which has a vacuum valve connection to undo.
I don't have the bottom of my intake tube hooked to anything anymore, but there is a flex hose hanging off the bottom of it which may have hooked up to something at one time, I can`t recall, it`s been years since I went with the conical. If you wanted you can separate the intake tube from the box, where it enters.

Next there is a watertight vent off the other side of the motor housing which is essentially a rubber hose with a loop of rubber which holds it tight into the vent hole by wrapping, elastic band-style around the housing, it needs to come off..

If you have Air conditioning, you will want to undo the electrical connector which enters the housing next to the heater fan..

Now that room has been made, you need to undo three 5/16th bolts to get the motor and fan assembly out.
Then you can pull it out.

My fan had started making a rubbing kind of out of balance sound. I found a bunch of insulation in it. I suspect a mouse, although I saw no mice crap, and I can't quite figure where the insulation came from. Works fine again now.
It has made this noise since camping on a 4x4 trail, so it is quite possible that I picked up a mouse at that time.
