I have looked at this site many times in the past to see if others had answers to problems I've encountered with my Explorer and have found it very helpful. So thanks. I have a 1997 Explorer Sport 4x4 with the SOHC 4.0. I bought it a few years ago. I have been overall happy with it especially the appearance and performance but have had my share of problems. THe first issue was the front ball joints, which caused the tires to lean in at the top (that was a $700 job) The second problem was the transfer case. It being a AWD, if the transfer case gives out it quits pulling. That set me back $1400. To save money I decided to sign up here to get helpful hints and how to instructions. I also will need help locating those hard to find parts like the center console lid.
