I have Autometer Ultra Lite gauges. They are bright enough without the color "condom" but when I put the condom on they are dim even with +12 volts and no dimmer. I'm using the blue which matches the 1996 blue ford gauges very well.

Is there a fix or mod anyone has made? What about a brighter bulb?

I wouldn't suggest a brighter bulb. Brighter=hotter. Although this may be an option that you may want to consider.
http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/bulandtailli.html

I used the visual silver for my clear corner bulbs, and Matt used the smoke for his tail lights, so we have found some uses for these bulb/lens paints.
Otherwise I think you might be stuck.

Mine light up just fine with the green cover. Maybe you don't have a good power source or ground?

I was going to suggest the same. I also use the green cover, or "condom" :D , and mine are plenty bright. I'ma ctually going to wire them up to the dimmer to make them less bright when I adjust the rest of the dash. Try another 12V source.

do you have any pics of where you relocated your temp controls?

Yes, i do. And fully operational :) I'll post them on the other thread soon.

I do have good ground and power. I did notice the green/red ones are brighter. I guess it has to do with the "condom" I might cut some holes in it to let more light through. Since my dash lights are blue I really want to keep the gauges blue too.

I thought of this on the way home today. You might want to try to go to radio shack and get thier 12V LED. They come in all kinds of colors and are real easy to install. I'm sure they have the mounting harness that would fit in the gauge too.

just use colorared bulbs that way it is not filtered throught the codemthinging first. that is how a lot of my freinds fixed theres. you could also by LED replacment ones that are a 1000 times better.
