Can someone please help. Am totally new to this forum. Am hoping it will help me out . I have a 99 explorer sport just bought it . It has 100k on it . Am experiencing a slight flare between 1st and 2nd . A very common problem by what i have found out already. It has the 5r55e tranny . any suggestions??:exp:

I would start with chaning the filter and fluid. Add a quart of Lucas transmission oil and it should help it out. If not, you will need to rebuild the vavle body.

Welcome to this forum! A shift flare is usually caused by a sudden slip of a band or a clutch pack or a loss of hydraulic pressure in the valve body or a servo piston. Check the sticky threads on the top of the transmission section for more information.
