I've got an Actron III scanner. It reads just about all fords prior to '96 (due to computer changes by ford). Your codes are not listed in my book. I would buy a scanner ($30) which will read you computer and get the correct codes. You will be using the right tool for the job.

jrome: I just checked my Chilton manual, and it doesn't list those codes either. Are you sure you are counting the flashes correctly?

thanks guys i ran the codes with a oTm machine but no bother now i cleaned the filter recharged it and reset the computer and I haven't had trouble with it sinse. besides a K&N filter & a proformance chip is there any other inexpensive ways to get better gas milage I drive this SUV 120 to 150 miles a day and man this 16-17 miles to the gallon sucks????

Jrome -

Have you tried punching a few holes in the air box (bottom and sides, all below the air filter). That should help a little bit, if you're definitely going to use this vehicle and drive it this much, try a set of AS rated tires, that should also improve your mileage. Other than that, there is really not much you can do other than getting another vehicle with good gas mileage. Good Luck.

thanks KVO i don't think i can give up my 31x10.50 BFgoodwrich all-terrains for a couple of miles to the gallon I will try the holes in the air box any paticular size of holes or any paticular place other than just the bottom of the box? I love my Explorer but i think your right i may have to end up getting an old Yugo or something to get me back and forth to work because i'm not giving up my Ford.
