I have a 92 explorer, 5spd, 4x4, manual hubs, pushbutton t case. is it possible to safely tow this vehicle with all 4 wheels on the ground, for example behind a motorhome?

If you are planning on traveling any amount of distance, your gonna need a tow dolly. Flat or dolly tow, you will need to disconnect the driveshaft. 4 bolts hold it to the rear, takes about 5 min to disconnect and tie off to the frame. This has to be done, otherwise when your rear wheels spin the driveshaft continues to rotate. Without your engine running or gears spinning there is no tranny fluid circulating or lubricating the yoke/and tranny...this=damage if towed any great distance. With front in neutral you can FLAT tow up to 50 miles. Tow dolly and rear wheels on ground/driveshaft disconnected is your safest bet.
