Bought a new Explorer the other day for use as a toad behind the motorhome we live in and to carry our two recumbent tadpole trikes without folding them—the Explorer is the only car we found that fills both roles and comes in under 5000 pounds when loaded to our needs, that weight being the limit of our receiver (I’ll still be 2700 pounds under GCWR). Both the Edge and Flex tow flat but neither would quite hold the trikes (Catrike Trail and ICE Adventure). An Edge ST would’a been nice, eh? But too small. And the Flex had too narrow a cargo floor. So Explorer it is.
