ravin
I'll be posting this on the main page also, but thought this was an appropriate thread to announce my exciting news! I put on a 'RAVIN' (
www.goravin.com) performance exhaust muffler yesterday(well, i mad midas order it and then weld it in with new pipes). I went with the 55 model, which from what I gather, is comparable to flowmasters' 50 series. I wanted a nice throaty sound, but not somethign that would interfere with conversation or music at highway speeds. IT SOUNDS GREAT! It was exactly what I wanted, a little weak right at first but after a couple miles it seemd to break right in. I noticed performance gains right away..I have no way of measuring, but I would say 5-10hp??? If that seems unreasonalbe to anyone, let me know, but my passengers even agreed that we had a more power. This was all find and dandy, but the second reason for going with a new exhaust system was an attempt for better gas mileage.
You may want to sit down for this..I filled up the tank, drove 75-80 mph, with the windows down(extra drag, but don't have ac right now!), for 150 miles..usually at this point my gas gage is below half, but not this time. Filled up the tank again when I got home, took 7 gallons..I would let you do the mat, but that's nearly 21.5mpg! The most I had ever gotten on the highway during the 6 weeks I've had it was a little over 18, usually around 17.5 avg, and 13-14 in city. I'm not saying that only Ravin can do this for you, but I was expecting 1 or 2 mpg increase, not 4! I'll be taking about a 300 mile trip tonight, so I'll be testing to make sure this wasn't a fluke
SOO, for what it's worth, I highly suggest you check out Ravin and see what they have to offer.. Mine was worth every penny. Oh, I'll be adding the KKM air induction kit next week, looking for a couple more mpg
