I tried searching, but just couldn't get many answers.

I just bought a Force II and I'm looking to install it myself. It's the cat-back system from summitracing, and it came with what looks like everything needed to install it. Here are my questions:

Is there any welding that has to be done with just taking the old exhaust off and putting this one on?

If no, can I just stick it in there and be done with it?

About how long would it take to install it?

Should I just take it to a shop? If yes, how much will it cost?

Thanks everyone, I'm lookin to get this done today or tomorrow, so I'll be able to let you know how I did it and hopefully post some pictures soon. Thanks!

There are some who install exhaust systems by clamping them together; I am a firm believer in welded systems however.

Good luck.....

do it yourself... it is a full bolt on system, should take less than an hour once the stock exhuast is removed

Take off the old system put on the new one and clamp it into place temporarily. Then drive it to a muffler place and have them weld it up tight and take off the clamps. Clamps are okay but nothing compares to welding. Plus they won't charge much for the welding and it will cost less because you did the dirty work, taking the old junk off and putting in the new system.

I agree with Rich. If it will bolt up without problems, do it, then take it to get welded.

Great, thanks guys. That's exactly what I was lookin for. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I agree! Bolt it on for now and when you get a chance to get it welded, do it. On mine, the clamps after the muffler don't hold for SH*

Old thread, I know... but does installing a catback require cutting at all? or does the stock system completely unbolt?

More than likely there will be some cutting involved. After all those years the pipes tend to rust together and won't budge, at least that was my experience. I'm sure that you could break it free if you wanted to put that much effort into it, but cutting would be much much easier...

We don't really have a rust issue here, think for a moment as if it were a new vehicle.. are cat backs strict bolts on? As with the stock system? Unbolts and that's it?

Also, would it be cheaper to just get the muffler with bigger pipping or the catback?
