I got my flowmaster delta 40 installed yesterday sounds good. It is actually quieter than I was expecting. I went strait out the back next to my class three hitch. It took some creative bending to keep it hidden when you look at it from the side. Looks good though. Now for my next upgrade! HEHEHE:D :D :D

How Loud is it

Describe how loud it is since it is a dual chamber muflfler and is it real noisey sitting at a stop light or is nice and low. How about when you have the windows down do you hear nothing but exhaust or is it quiet inside your vehicle how about with the windows up is loud or noisey? Thanks,
:D

To me it is nice and low at a stop light. Has a nice deep sound as you get on it, but once you get to speed it is mellow and low. I hear my tires more than the exhaust at speed. You can definitely hear it with you windows up but to me it is nothing distracting. you can listen to the radio or talk without a problem. It is louder with the windows down but nothing overwhelming. I love the sound! :D

it doesnt sound like a ricer or anything, does it?

not at all! now if it had a little loupe to it it would be killer! some day Ill get that V8 :D

no way, i'm running the 2 chamber on bakon right now. and it sounds sweeeeet. alot of people actually don't believe that i have a v6 in there, that is until i show them the motor. hah:cool:

Be glad y'all don't have to run huge exhaust pipes like I do :( Don't get me wrong, I like the sound and the power, but sometimes it sounds a bit ricey. I have 3" flow-through exhaust all the way back to a 2.5" tailpipe. It's about 75% larger than stock, about 50% larger than what I had before. I know I always recommend conservative exhaust systems; but it's different with my setup ;)

The reason our X's sound very good with a little catback work is that they have a very low torque curve and a decent, fairly conservative catback system optimizes the exhaust flow. You start to get ricey sound when you go too large. This is due to the gases shrinking and bouncing around a large pipe.

Alec

I love your sport with the supercharger and the cold air intake that must be one fast X now. :D

My Dad thinks so when he has to stare at my brakelights :bounce:

He drives a 98 MB SLK 230 or my Mom's 97 Lexus LS400.

Awww, 'cause wouldn't it suck to have a supercharger like you too, aww the pity I have on you.

-sorry, I had to have a smarta$$ responce for that.

Here's a late question, did you have a noticeable change in power? I am interested in doing the same setup with a 40 series but am hesitant because I can't justify spending the money just to get a better sound...I need power out of my SOHC (I figure if I'm gonna get 14 MPG, I might as well get the power that comes with it!!!)

My Explorer is the loudest truck with just a basic flowmaster any of my friends have heard. I love it, it's not too loud when I'm at a stop light but once you get going it sounds like something huge is coming up behind you. I've gotten a lot more power since I've gotten it and a lot better gas mileage too. When the over drive is off its also a lot quieter. The only time it gets annoying is when you're driving for many hours and you can hear the hum of it. Other than that, its great!

Do you have any pics

What series Flowmaster do you have Explorer Girl and do you have pics of yourself with the explorer and or just of the explorer just curious on how your Explorer Looks and I know it looks just as good as it sounds mean and tuff:p   :chug: :chug: :smoke: :smoke: :D :p ;)  :bounce:

Here's a tip to get rid of the exhaust note when traveling on the highway, turn on your stereo, and push "up" on the volume until exhaust note drowns away.
Everybody seems to not like the tone when on the highway, but after a while I forget I have it, I don't even hear it. The best is when I take video inside my truck and it sounds badass on playback, but I'm so used to it in my truck I don't notice it.

Anyways......thanks for the hint, I already knew how to turn my radio up. It doesn't always cover it up, especially for the people in the back seats, they really can't hear anything that goes on up front b/c its really loud back there. I don't have a picture yet BigBadFred, I'm new in here as of today, will have one soon. Nothing very special done to my Explorer yet though, just a little lift in the front from the torsions.:p

Matt, i saw you today. You were leaving the Breslin Parking lot at around 2 - 230. I was parked, i was about to chase after you but you freakin took off.
By the way, your exhaust sounds good!
Oh yeah your truck is nice too ;) ... jk Looks hot, love the rims!

ExplorerGrl Welcome to the site, as you can see there are many helpful people around with a lot of info... Enjoy! Congrats on your X!

Maybe you should consider some sort of under body-coating? That would deaden the sound a little.

Thanks Explorer Girl

Sounds good and welcome to the forum there is a lot of useful information and a lot of not so useful info but check it out and you will be impressed like I was:D

No way Chucky D, I was passing by looking at your X hoping to get a spot next to it so you'd notice when you were on your way out! Arg! Oh well, it'll look better on wednesday when I put all my new white trim/airdam/spoiler.

Thanks for the comment on the exhaust note, I just wish I knew what it sounded like when it drove by, but none of my friends up here drive stick (and the one's that do I don't really trust)
