The 40 series is a little louder and flows a little more. I believe due to the baffling setup inside the can itself. I run a 50 series on my V8 and it's pretty stout in the decibel department. The 40 series is a good screamer.
I'm putting a 50 series on my 01ST Friday and planning to run duals out the back with my spare tire in the orignal mounting area. The 2 muffler shops are telling me they may not be able to run it out both sides. Does anyone have a 01ST that has already has duals down both sides mounted that can send pictures of the route the pipes are ran?
You can save a huge amount of money by having them put your tips coming out the side of the truck, in front of your right rear tire. It looks cool and sounds great. Just do a single in- single out muffler. I have some pics of mine at mysporttrac.com http://www.zjstech.net/~library/6770/ST Pics 001.jpg I think this link will work.

I perfer to run them out both sides..... any idea's on the route I should take with the pipes? Chad I really like the way that looks coming out in front of the rear tires. I want to get the 2nd tip on the other side .
Chad, desided to go the same way u did... one side, in front of the rt rear tire. Any other ways I would have to take out the spare. Getting it put on in the AM tomorrow. K&N Intake dropped in this morning (Love the diiferent sound.
Was kinka forced to go with Glass Packs instead of Flowmasters so I could have duals. We ran the GP right behind the step and brought the chrome tips right in front of the rear tires on both sides
although both the 40 series and 50 series are highflow, they DO NOT have a straight throught pipe, the are baffles inside the muffle to create a more pleasant sound. I have the MagnaFlow cat back, which came with a straight through muffler(ie less resistance = more power) and sounds amazing...bought the kit for $495 CAD...
