HI,I have been going thru all of the threads about flushing a automatic
trany.
Would it be better to flush trany before or after changing filter, because to me it seems to be better to leave old filter in until you get all of the bad
trany fluid changed then pull pan an hopefully not loose too much new
fluid.
What i am working on is a 96 explorer.
We also have what i believe is the infamous flare problem because we had it scanned and it came up with a code for a solenoid.
I have not checked if it has a auxcilliry cooler on it but i do have a cooler off a 95PSD that should work and also have in line filter laying around that could be put in line.
I understand this filter should be put on going into trany,THANKS

Know that the "filter" in the trans is a steel screen not a fine particulates filter....
That said most shops won't even change it...I have a external filter and strongly suggest adding that..

HI,I saw your filter placement is this after it comes out of the aux. cooler
to catch the fines that the trany filter did not catch, thanks

Will, I'm not sure what the filter looks like in your truck but in my 97 it's a foam filter. Not that an external filter isn't a bad idea, but the stock filter is a little better than a steel screen.
