2002 Explorer Sport 5spd
Hey to all,
I found your site while looking up answers to my tech question with my Explorer Sport. I must say that I have a sick and twisted love for my Explorer and I would never sell her. She has lasted three girlfriends and a **** ton of mileage. My current girlfriend kinda hates my love for my Explorer. She also owns a 2002 Explorer XLS. But doesn't hold down the love like I do for mine. My Explorer has lasted 5 years and 65,000 miles (she currently has 127,000 miles but I only put the 65,000 on her), two major winter storms, countless off roading nights, and about 600-700 fire calls (volly fire fighter). She has gotten me through a lot. And now that she's getting old, I am paying the price to keep her. My current problem is the transfer case not working. But so far that's the biggest worry I have. The motor runs great and the transmission is shifting fine. So there is a little bit about my sick love for my explorer. I will post pictures as soon as I can.
Talk to you all soon,
Steve

Gday Steve, welcome to the forum. Sounds like you belong here:D

Welcome!

My '97 XLT is currently in the shop for transfer case issues as well. I should get it back today.

Does your transfer case not work at all? There is a trick to getting the transfer case motors to work again.

Mine's in the shop because the rear output bushing went back causing excessive up and down shaft play and a leaky seal.

Well I like to off road a lot. But the last time I had an issue, it was the switch on the dash. Now, I can't do anything. And it was weird. Normally I have at least the lights come on, but I have no power to it at all. Not even on start up. I checked all the fuses, switch and relay and they are all good. Any ideas? I'm completely stumped. My one friend told me my transfercase might be low on fluid and it could be triggering a sensor. But I don't know if thats the case. If you got any idea's, please let me know. And I love this site. I just got to post my pictures. lol
