I have a 2013 Explorer with the 302A package. I live in Michigan and want to change my fog light color to yellow to use in bad weather. My HID headlights do well for normal driving but I want to be able to turn on my fog lights and use them for bad weather. Would it be better to change out my bulbs to a HID 3000k (would need suggestions on 35 vs 55 watts and a retailer) or just add a film over the fog light housing. Any ideas / inputs?

putting the 3000k should be very good for visibility. i would say go for it. not my favorite in color output but you will get further brightness with 3000k

I say go for the 3000k HIDs. Mine are excellent in bad weather.

Yes, but that's not an explorer, and the foglights have a very small reflector in them and won't give out nearly that much light.

I have H9's in my foglights running 65 watts, which is an output of around 2000 lumens, almost twice the output of an H11, and I barely see any difference in overall light output.

I was referencing the color. The reflector is pretty small in the Saab as well.

3000ks are better than any other color in the rain and snow. I have them in my Evo x and F150. Comparing them to anything else I have used 5000k and 8000k? Im getting ready to putthem in my sport fog lights.

Do you know where your going to buy yours?

I got all my HID kits for my vehicles from DDM Tuning. They have lifetime warranties on all their kits plus they are cheap. I have a few ballasts go out, but they have always replaced them with no hastle.
