During the past winter I used one of the Broken Recirculating Door hacks and screwed the broken door in the up / sealed position with only a fraction open to allow some air by with the hope that would stop fogged, iced up front and side windows. It was unsuccessful, but the alternative to cold air streaming in behind the glove box across my wife's legs with the door laying down was also unacceptable. Now it's warm..well most of the time. The AC is great, but during a cool morning I turned on the heat and instantly the windows began to fog. Why? Why the moisture? There's no water on the floors or leaks and it's not raining. Would taking the recirculating door out and sealing the intake from the outside solve the problem? I need some other eyes on my '03 Explorer issues. Thanks from Northern Michigan.

Here is a very old stupid trick but it works for me.

Your windows fog up after you turn the heater on?

Wipe your fingers over the film. Slick or slimy feel? Anti-Freeze which means leaking heater core.

Second test, most folks are scared of this one. Taste the stuff on your fingers after you wipe it off the window.

Taste sweet? Anti-Freeze.

ChrisFix huh?

I think the 2 "fixes" Might be worth the try. I've got nothing to lose.
Thanks

Anti freeze on window?

Nope....no slimy feel or smell, not sure about the taste :)
