I feel stupid asking this question but here goes:

I bought my X 4 months ago and haven't noticed until yesterday, but my foglights dont' come on. I have the auto headlights and I always assumed that they came on automatically also, but they don't. They don't even come on when I manually turn the headlights on. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or when they are supposed to come on? Maybe the bulbs are toast?

Thanks.

It's my experience that the factory rectangular fogs are crap. It is very possible that both are burned out. Have you checked the fuses? That's also a possibility.

I suggest you invest in some aftermarket foglights to replace the stock ones. You'll have to do a little wiring, but it will end up cheaper and better light in the longrun. Good luck!

It could be one of the most obvious things...like bulbs burnt out or fuses or simply didn't turn them on. There's a switch for the fog lights to the right of the radio and under the rear defroster switch. So when you turn the headlights on, does that little LED light up? Not the fog lamp illumination, but the little light bar on top of the graphic? If not, try to turn it on.

You should be able to use aftermarket fog lights with your stock wiring and switch unless you g with high wattage bilbs.

Good luck......

I wouldn't. I'd only use the stock wiring as a switch, not for power or ground.

Hey twooverpar,

I had the same problem with my '97 Sport about a year ago. Like Alec said, 1st start with the cheapest and simplest thing.....replacement bulbs.

Mine ended up blowing out again relatively quickly. Uninstalled one of the housings to find that the original bulbs broke and there was loose glass in the lenses bouncing around. The lenses looked cloudy and dirty from moisture over time. I ended up buing a brand new set of OEM fogs with brackets on eBay for around $50. Easy to install and uninstall. Nice new shiney rust free brackets, clear lenses....Mmmmmmmmm

If it's in your budget, get a set of nice aftermarket ion-fogs! Awesome for severe weather or catching the sides of the road on dark roads. And most important, you never know when you need to throw 2406598068251985624554 candlepower into the rear view mirror of a jerk in front of you. :D

When you check to see if they are working are you high beams on? They only turn on when your low beams are on.

i have that problem too somtimes. ill be driving and notice that the LED isnt on, and the fogs arnt. and then about 10 min later they will be working fine. but of course the next time i start my truck after this, the computer has reset isself....

The computer doesn't reset itself after you have cut it off. The battery has to be disconnected for the cpu to reset.

Bran, you have an electrical problem!

Sounds like corroded battery terminals or bad wires.
