We have decided that our black interior Explorer needs foot well lights. We are definitely not interested in LED strip lighting down there. I already have a bag full of T10 LEDs and am interested in installing some T10 sockets. I found the courtesy wire (yellow/grey) and it runs along the drivers side door sill, so it is easy to access.
Here are my options:
Amazon source: from the reviews, most of these seem to come with thin wiring that will break too easily, and may not take the current if I switch to incandescent bulbs. Others seem to be cheap plastic sockets that cannot take very much heat at all.
Ford source: quite expensive.
Junkyard: this is a viable option. All I need to do is find a Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis, or other makes and models and I will find one. But the nearest wrecker that has reasonable prices is a good 45 minutes away, one way.
I'm leaning toward the wrecker option, but I'm wondering if I'm forgetting any other solutions.
