Byrd91, you are right, wristing the arms releaves the torque implied on the axle and allows more flex and axle drop. Heim joints releave the stress of bushings and allow more flex without binding. One other reason behind extended radius arms is to keep from mounting them far below the frame. This creates a hang up point on the trail.

Kurt, the wristed axle housing is bad ass. They came out with that RIGHT after I finished building a $3k D44 for my father-in-law. Figures.....

I would need to see it up close first maybe I will check and see if anyone locally has done this.

I have seen pics of a EB with a wristed axle and 4 link. My god that thing had MASSIVE travel.

Just from the little amount of research I have done on them, I haven't heard TOO many great things about wristed axles. But I haven't looked to deep into them.

Extended arms are great for helping to reduce the natural "anti sway" resistance created by the C-bushings, but a wristed arm will reduce it even more. Of course, the debate of extended arms vs wristed arms will go on forever, but I tend to like the advantages of wristed arms.

Tell you what extended is good but add a wristed arm and it will flex like mad. Even with an extended arm you will still have to wrist the pass. arm to get as much flex as possible. I personaly think it is possible to have too much flex on a trail rig though.

Oh yeah, my arms are 31" bolt to bolt and axle was moved 3" forward. I have a wheel base of 105" now and can clear 35"s with only 4" of lift ;)
