Ford 8.8 regearing question

I have a 3.73 LS but I want to regear. Will a 4.56 R&P work with the stock carrier?

Yes. You will need a modified cross pin or to grind a tooth or two to get the cross pin in w/ the 4.56s.

There are no carrier breaks in the 8.8.

There are carrier breaks in the front dana35. 3.55 and below need replacement carriers for 4.56 gears.

The 35 uses the same carrier for both gearsets, mine had 3.55 and I used the same carrier when I put the 4.10's in. So, no you don't need a different carrier.

You can use the notched pin if you're useing a stock carrier and spiders, if you plan to use a lunchbox locker like a lock right use the stock pin and grind the gear tooth. The locker will eventually break a notched pin.

Any gear retailer can get the notched pin if that's what you need
