So now shopping for a Lightning 90MM MAF. My MAF on my 2000 Limited has a 6 pin connector. On some of the Lightning MAFs I see on line they have a 4 pin connector. Which 90MM MAF should I buy for my supercharger installation? Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Either will work, but I think you are blowing/supercharging through the MAF Sensor? If so, you likely want the 6 pin as the additional two pins are for an IAT sensor. It's good to know IAT with the addition of a compressor making heat.

I installed a Kenne Bell, relocated IAT wiring and put a sensor after the blower in the lower intake.

I'm not familiar with those at all, but I have one that came from a friend when he sold his Lightning ages ago. I think I can find it quickly, I don't know how many wires it has, I wonder if they were all six(IAT inside the MAF). You might notice if you have searched for these already, many will have the flange removed where they bolted on a straight cone filter onto the housing of it. If you could use it, and I can find it, I'll let you take if for say $20 shipped.

Thanks Don. Please let me know if you find it!

The stock 5.0L 6-in MAF sensor will fit a 90mm LMAF housing, but the mounting fasteners for retaining the MAF sensor on the LMAF housing do not match the hole pattern from the stock housing. I've temporarily zip tied things together, but after flashing the MAF transfer update to the ECU, it runs well, as it did before. The alternative is to run the factory LMAF 4-pin sensor and install an IAT sensor somewhere else, repin the stock MAF sensor connector and carry on, AFAIK. I've looked around and inquired about 6-pin sensor possibilities that are already integrated into a larger MAF housing, but haven't found anything.

How large are the 2005-1010 OEM Ford MAF's? Those are supposed to be slot MAF's with less restriction, and of course the 6-wire with IAT built in.

I took no chances and bought a complete new maf

Yep, the safe bet is to go to SCT or Pro-M Racing and get a new MAF with the 6-pin sensor and integrated IAT. However, that's another $400. I looked at the Ford MAF evolution and it appears that everything 2004+ moves to a different sensor mounting configuration which doesn't retrofit to the older style housing at all.

One possibility is to design an adapter that allows the 6-pin MAF sensor to mount to the 4-pin sensor housing. It's not easily adaptable because the mounting holes actually overlap (they're that close), but that presents some mechanical design challenges in itself. The thickness of an adapter plate cannot exceed more than 1mm or so in order to assure similar sensor protrusion depth into the housing when assessing the stock sensor positioning.

I think what you're looking at, if you've read this far, is that I'm cheap as hell and have access to a waterjet, so might try something silly before throwing in the towel and ordering a new housing from somewhere.

Only thing I would mention is yes it may be cheaper to go that way with your mass air flow sensor however You'll spend extra time tuning later which is gonna cost you so it's a balance

My air intake temperature sensor is moved from the maf I simply cut the wires and reroute them to the new sensor

Keep posting please

Could this help? Lightning Force Performance MAF Meter Adapter Harness FITS Ford Style MAF Meter to Older Non MAF Metered Ford Vehicles 4 to 6 pin: Amazon product ASIN B075V9TDY1
I ordered a Granatelli 90mm Lightning MAF for 164 shipped. It should be quality and not a knock-off. I have two Tweecers tuners and will have two Lightning MAF's. One for a future project and or back-up. I found a better price this morning at $133, don't know if shipping was included.

I read Granatelli was the original manufacturer of the Lightning MAF, but they had some sort of dispute, so it's no longer sold under SCT. Back before SCT started making their own MAF's with the aluminum housing Granatelli made them for SCT. It's a great MAF at a great price and has the stock look I need for emissions.

Have you seen the 2005-2010 MAF's much, and do you know what the Cobra TB and MAF are like compared to those? I'm hoping to choose the Cobra TB and adapter for my project, the MAF I hadn't thought of yet.
