I have a 98 explorer and have been fairly pleased with it. Ya sure it burns gas like no tommrow but I expected it 2 when i bought the pig. 80,000km on it and not a single thing wrong with it, except this p.o.s armrest that has broken for the second time lol. The break is not the bracket part where arm mounts 2 sence it is steel now but it is the long part which arm actualy screws onto. At $300cdn a shot this is becoming a expensive part to replace. Why is this p.o.s plastic? doesn't ford think there are any slightly overweight guys over the 220lbs mark that need 2 lean on this thing to readjust there boyz once inawhile?

Ha. You should sue for dicrimination against heavy-weight guys with over-sized balls! I think you have a case!

The only problem I've had with mine is the damn thing tearing. But I'm not weighing in at 220lbs.

lol! well i found this forum lookin to maybe get some of these nice toys u guys put on your boats but the way it is lookin i am going 2 have to make a trust fund just 2 replace these arms. or first mod could be just to ripp this pos console and arm out of thing and get one of those fancy ones from explorer express. $300 well 280 2 be exact for a dam arm is hard to swollow for plastic when u can buy a aftermarket console for that price canadian is just nutts. other thing i could do is sue like u said lol

im 6' 2" 270lbs and i have had no problem with it at all. but thats probly cuz i dont really use it much, i rest my arm right were the window starts

my armrest plastic/leather covering cracked as well. it sucks. but i sure as hell ain't going to replace it any time soon. and i only weigh 155! what up with that?!?

Your sharp elbows!

Clip a tape measure onto the pocket of the armrest. Then it'll sit evenly on the base and wont break. Plus, the tape adds some character to the truck. Not really though....

A car stereo faceplate case works for that pupose too. It is just high and strong enough to hold the weight of someone pushing down. It is also a good place to store the case until needed!

You guys must be talking about a 1st gen X thing.. cause I dont know what the fudge you're talkin bout.
