2013 Explorer Limited
I am working on getting an Explorer Limited by the end of the year, Obama taxes permitting. But I have a question on putting MP3 files on the flashdrive. What format works here?

On my Nitro the files must be either in a folder called MyTalk or MyMusic. The Nitro downloads and places things accordingly. I also have to specify the title, album, album artist, etc.

I just got a 128Gig flashdrive to store my MP3s on but how are they saved on the drive. Do you just store on the root of the drive or must they be placed in folders by artist or whatever?

I hope I worded this well.

flash drive format

formatting a flash drive is just like formatting a computer hard drive. plug in the flash drive to a usb port. the computor will automaticlly install the driver for the flash drive. after the driver is installed go to "computer" in the start
menu. click on "computer" and a screen will open which shows all the drives
on the computer. find your flash drive ie removable drive(usually drive f").
right click on the flash drive to open the scroll down menu and click on format. a window will open that shows the format menu. the default format
is "fat 32". the option is ntfs. choose the default if you don't know the difference. click on format. a warning window will pop up that tells you that
all data will be lost. if you have data that you want to keep DON'T FORMAT THE FLASH DRIVE. if not click on format. DO NOT INTERFERE OR STOP THE FORMAT OR YOU WILL RUIN YOUR FLASH DRIVE. after the process completes you can drag and drop any files you want to the flash drive. for convience create a new folder on your desktop and move all the files you want to put on the flash drive in the folder and then drag and drop the folder to the flash drive hope this helps

The drive must be formatted as FAT32
The system will read files in folders, but I have gotten best results with indexing and load times by putting everything in the root. The system will also recognize M3U playlists in the root folder.

The system will automatically read the id3 tags and index the music by artist, album, song, genre, etc, so you don't have to do anything in that regard.

I have a 32gb flash drive, I put all mp3/m4a files in the root, and then create M3U playlists for my particular moods.
