My 2000 awd x makes a noise like the tires are rubbing but they arent. I have stock size all-terrains. I've changed the upper ball joints and both hubs. It calmed don't a little but it seems to be getting worse. It does it mainly when the wheel is turned all the way, either way at low speeds. I had a friend drive while I tried to check and it's so bad that the front bumper shacks. I'm thinking it's the axles but before I spend the money I'd like to see what you guys think.

front diff? steering rack?

I have been told not to use 4wd on hard pavement. The front and rear wheels move at different speeds. My 97 does the same thing, a bucking around feeling.

EDIT: I see AWD now. So I guess disregard my statement? I'm not positive how AWD works.

I hope it's not the diff....I can handle the steering rack, and I was wondering if it would do it like a 4wd even though mine is awd.
