Ok first off my advise to you is this: DO NOT GO!!!! First off, it is illegal. Second, when you wheel in illegal places, it makes the sport as a whole look bad, especially explorers.

You probably won't listen to my advice though, so I'm gonna prepare you. You are gonna need 2 towstraps with no hooks on them, a come-along, a shovel, a hi-lift, and an air pump.

What do you find so fun about driving your explorer through big mud holes? Beleive me, I have been there and have paid the price, it sucks.

why the hell is it illegal? its in the middle of the country and there are no signs saying no trusspassing. i wont go if it is illegal

Do you own it? If not, and if it isn't marked for offroad vehicles then it is illegal.

Trespassing is trespassing, maybe if you found out who owned it you could get permission to wheel there...

well ****. i need a place to go. i dont think there is any where around here desinated for off roading. i live near fort wayne indiana. im not driveing 100+ miles to drive over rocks for a day

I`m suprised this post hasn`t been deleted because of all the cussin`and attitude from ya.
Mellow out dude, you are being offensive to the community, and there is a lot of good people here.

I don`t know anything about your area but is there really no where to go? Have you picked up a backroad mapbook of some type to see? Have you posted here to ask if anyone knows the area?

Gunna suck if you`re in that lot and the cops roll up to say hi.

im sorry about my attitude. i was so sure i had found a good spot, then i find out it is illegal. made me kinda upset. im 90% sure there is not a place to go around here. maby some little crappy place in a state park but thats about it.

That sucks, I hear ya.

I gotta drive a bit to get to decent spots too, which is okay if you make a trip out of it. You can bring a tent and spend a night, that way it seems like you accomplished more than just getting your truck filthy in a small mud pit. It makes washing it a little more satisfying too!

-Gee, I`m sounding like a moderator lately:eek:

How far are you from Attica? I think it is in Indiana. I used to live in Toledo and did a alot of driving on the Forest roads. After a good rain or in the winter they can be a decent challenge. The bonus is it is legal to do it. Just because a place isn't marked "no tresspassing" doesn't mean it is legal to be there. I don't have a "no tresspassing" sign on my front door but I better not catch someone four wheeling through my front yard. I know I was scraping for places to go when I lived in Toledo, however I only had my Explorer for about 8 months before I moved back to Arizona. Arizona has many more places to go off-road, even with all the closed areas.

im a good 10050 miles from attica atleast, thats o nthe west side of the state near the center. i live in the northeast corner of indiana. what do you mean forest roads btw?

Wow 10050 miles across Indiana. Are you sure thats not a typo cause from Houston to Iowa is only 980

Audio_1, I used to live in Fort Wayne and I know there are at least two designated off road parks in the city, but I cannot recall what the names are. Call the Recreations Department, they can probably tell ya.

BTW, where exactly is this cal-de-sac you are referring too?

yeah its a typo. you know 327 north, and as you get to the dekalb county line there is cr11a and N CO LINE RD comeing together in the same spot. i live in garrett btw. and you go down N CO LINE rd, to the bridge going over interstate 69. but before you go over the bridge there is a street on your right and it is called cornell or something like that. and its a coldesack in the middle of the county, its like wtf

do you know where they are at in fw?

Basically just roads in Ohio that go through forests. I bought a big green book that had all of the recreation areas in Ohio on it with every dirt road imagineable on it as well. Shortly after buying my Explorer, my Wife and I went on covered bridge scavenger hunt trying to find several covered bridges that were listed in the book. We found most of them. We had to go down some pretty rough roads to get to some of them, got chased by a dog from Deliverance and got offered some directions from a mother and her 16 kids in an old Ford station wagon. All in all it was a fun trip with a lot of good pictures taken. We went down to the Hocking Hills area of Ohio though. I do remember taking a trip over to the Fort Wayne area to scout out areas to go and didn't really find any. I only spent the afternoon there though. If you want to go to really good spots you might have to be willing to drive a ways to get there. Make a weekend out of it. Book a motel for a Saturday night and spend the night for a weekend of wheeling.

Hey Josh, nothing personal, but can you please lay off using the foul language. Like Jim (Id50) mentioned earlier, some of us don't need to read posts that contain offensive language.

I'm not bragging, but I've even been reprimanded by rangers in the cleveland national forest for driving on these steep trails that branch off of the fire-road and the ranger just told me not to go on those anymore.
In my book, that makes you one of the idiots that cause trails to be closed.

I deleted Josh's post because we really don't want to send that message. We want to use our privileges wisely as RangerX said so trails don't get closed. I'm not scolding anyone, but I thought I'd let everyone know it was deleted and why.

Sorry, Josh. Nothing personal.

My friends offroaded illegally all the time and really i dont think it was too much fun because half the time they worried about getting caught. They worried so much that they didn't have too much fun. Like robert said, make a weekend out of it and go where its legal. That way you won't get busted.
