So I just changed my fuel filler neck because the smaller part was broken off in the rubber tube, but while I was down there I noticed a foot and a half long piece of rubber hose attached to a kind of mount but neither end of the hose was attached to anything, and I couldn't find anything it could go on, does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

probably a piece of the evap system or the rear diff vent hose.

I checked all around the evap system and couldn't find anything, is there a diff vent hose? Because that is what I was thinking it was, do I need it?

Only if you want to keep water and dust out of your diff housing, otherwise the diff works fine without it.

It would be best to put it back on.

I have not seen a differential yet that runs good with water in it.

Only reason I ask is my mustang doesn't have one, so I just didn't know

Your Mustang should have one. It may be a small fitting with a cap and not a hose. When your driving the gears get hot and the vent is there to release internal pressure. If it builds up pressure it will puke oil out of all the seals.

Yeah the mustang has a cap, ok glad I got this solved, I was afraid it went to the evap system, thanks!

That's why we are all here.
