I am also a member of the SilverStar fan club.

I wonder if they have them for my factory stock fog's?

I personally think that explorer stock fogs are pretty good compared to GM, what type (size) of silverstars should I be looking for, and how hard is it to install them correctly (not mis-aimed). Thanks.

yoru headlight bulbs are 9007 and the fogs are h1. however the silverstars dont come in h1. you could modify a 9005 bulb to fit in place of the h1. there is practically no chance to misaim the fogs because they are held in place. the only way to misaim is if the bracket holding the fogs are bent.

i 7th the silverstars, or whatever it is at. i put them in, hit the country roads and holy crap, i was pleased

I am going to get the silverstars:D

the 893 are for the 95-98 i believe. the newer 99+ models have the round fog lights and are H1. i bought an h1 bulb because one of mine blew out. maybe some models are different, but most of the 99+ with round fogs have h1s or modified 9005.

I got the Silverstars, Cant complain...mad I had to pay over 50 bucks then found them on ebay for 36 w/shipping...

I had the Xenon HID Lights as well...I didnt put them in correcly and burnt my headlight assembly piece...was mad about that...

I think I will try again and hopefully they should work out this time...I liked the Xenon ones cause they had the blue tint as well as being as bright as the silverstars for ALOT CHEAPER!

Who has the Xenon lights? Did they fit correctly or was it just me?

I put in the 8000K HID conversion kit w/balasts and all.

Now THOSE are sweet!! Bright as hell, white as hell and the only drawback is the **** lenses in the 2nd gen X.

Major plus is that since they're only 35 watts there's no heat issue to worry about melting the lense.

I had the 90/100watt Hyper White bulbs and found myself pulling the lenses to put epoxy on top to cover melted/cracked areas from the heat the higher wattage bulbs produce.

But the HID conversions are slammin', no heat and super bright. But they $$$.

BTW- the HID conversions are Plug and Play.

But you lose the high beam...for the 9007 they're single beam.

There is one company coming out with a dual beam, but they aren't out yet.

Please estimate how much more light you put on the road with the HIDs vs regular lights.

Thanks.....

I don't know how to estimate how much more light, but- distance is increased immensely, daylight equivalent as opposed to the dull yellow standard lights produce.

I'd say way better than the high wattage simulated HID bulbs and they use next to no power!

Seriously next to no power.

With the high wattage bulbs I could see the charging needle drop a little, but with the HID Conversion no movement at all.

Trust me I was a little leery about spending the $700 to have them installed, but after one night I was completely satisfied.

On a drive from NY to Vermont in some intense snow they were the only reason I could see the road.

I pity the poor fools who were driving with factory lights on that night.

Just to add to that if one of these clear lense (Crystal Eyes, APC) projector lense companies would come out with a replacement lense for the 2nd gen X they would be even better functionality wise.

Yeah I have hear about that, do you think that if we get a lot of 2ng gen x's together we can get a class act type thing and get them to produce some lenses?

Nah, they aren't even interested in the 2nd Gen X.

They've got the newer models to deal with...
