Found my front end clunking noise!!

ive been driving my x for quite some time now with a clunking noise up front, and i know alot of you have too, well mine has gradually gotten worse untill the other day out at the river it got rediculous. so i got out and rocked my truck, turned the wheels, and finally found the culprit. The damn bolt that holds the sway bar by the wheels had came loose, the bushing didnt look bad, but i bought some new poly ones and new bolts anyway, and sure enough the bushing was crap! and what do you know i dont think my front end is falling off no more.

Well done in fixing your problem. Odd noises can be very difficult to find unless you strip the whole thing down.

mine was clunking also, turned out to be a loose wheel bearing..

I was going to take it in to get fixed, as I've never worked on a 4X4 before, but after reading some of this sights tech articles.. I knocked it right out!!

yeah seems like a ton of us have some weird noises comin from the front of our x's i had put new bushings in the whole front end minus the sway bar, and all new bearings. guess i shoulda put ALL new bushings in but it only started as a ker-thunk when i flexed the suspension going over bumps or what not it was only a worn out bushing, made my day i'll tell you what. Howard thanks its hell tryin to figure out where noises are coming from especially when they only do it once in a while

I have the same problem a slight clunking. Does anyone have the instructions so I can check it out on my own?
