I forget what I wast doing, I think looking for sub box ideas. But stumbled upon truckin.com and did a sport trac search. Some pretty radical designs out there!

The "Split Decision" trac had a pretty cool tail gate idea. They converted it to a swing open gate. Mounting a tire on that would be pretty cool :) haha. Lots of ideas flowing now. The Westin one is tight too

I've rolled the swinging tailgate idea around in my head multiple times. Still not sure how I feel about it. Very nice for that guy's use.

I've seen the Westin one around the web a good bit.

Wish there were more lowered Tracs on this forum. Not my thing but I enjoy any good build, especially with custom work.

Ya the work that goes into those lowered tracs is pretty incredible. I like seeing some tracs like these floating around out there. would be cool to see them in person

That lifted Trac does anybody know if they still make that soft top bed cover and who makes it

Never mind I found it softtopper makes it

Jeesh its stupidly expensive!

to hell with the cost of that soft top. i got the factory bi-fold hard top tonneau for 250 and the hardware from a junkyard truck for 25. the person i bought from was the original owner and only used it for a few months total on the truck

I have one to, but when I go camping it would be nice to have that much more storage.

In my quest for finding the cheapest softtopper, I also found this! :D

I know your looking for cheap but look into rooftop tents, they can be had fairly cheap and are awesome from what I've heard from people that use them.

There's the cool factor then there's practical. Just buy a ground tent that's easy to put up and tear down and be done with it.

But practicals not always best I guess it depends on his Enviorment he's using it in

But then you have to tear down a tent anytime you need to drive. Okay if you're moving camp every night or won't be using the truck but in my experience, I set up camp once, walk to most destinations from camp or drive to the longer distance destinations. A tent is easier to pack too.

You're right though, depends on individual needs. I considered a bed tent and rooftop tents but decided I was best served by a normal, boring tent.

I dont want a tent, I stumbled onto that and thought it was funny...

When I camp/ backpack I dont even use tents anymore. I use a hammock and tarp. I've done it in bear country both in NM and AZ and all the way up in the boundary waters. Works great, light, no space taken up, and more comfortable!

I'd like that soft topper though, would be great for when I help my dad and grandpa on our plots and such

It is funny. That's for pad camping. Just make sure to strategically park so you don't block access to the power and water, lol.
