As the title implies Fox 25 in Boston is gathering info for a story surrounding the U-haul and Explorer controversy. I would suggest anyone wishing to contribute to write-up a clear and concise post so your thoughts are appropriately communicated to Mr. Danel and the Fox network.

This is the message:

My name is Ted Daniel. I am a reporter with FOX 25 News in Boston. We
are researching a story on Uhaul's tow policy with Ford Explorers. We
are looking for a local Explorer owner who has an opinion on this. I
saw your post and was wondering if I could speak with you. You can
email me at desk@fox25.com ATTN: Ted Daniel or give me a call at (617)
851-0998 or (781) 467-1300. Also if you know anyone else locally who might
want to speak with us feel free to pass my information along.

Thanks,
Ted Daniel

i dont have an opinion on it other than u-hual is stupid.... but here is bump for you....

Point out the fact that you can tow one with a mount but not with an explorer, even tho their the same truck.

Rock on! Don't forget like 00XLS said, that Navaho's and Mountaneers can tow.

So John, did you, or are you going to, speak to the reporter?

The funny thing is every Uhal store still shows an Explorer pulling their 6 x 12 trailer on their main overhead display. I am really pissed about the whole thing. I had towed a uhaul many times in the past without problems and being in the military we move a lot and it is a huge hassle to rent a truck now as apposed to renting a trailer. Explorer was rated the tow vehicle of the year I think it was last year and yet you can't tow a uhaul trailer. this makes no sense. especially when mount's and navajo's can. I think Ford should step in.

The U-Haul in El Paso where I used to live had a piece of cardboard taped over the Explorer. WTF!

I specifically asked them about it, as I wanted to tow my other car to Florida behind the Explorer. Nope, can't do it. So then I asked about a Mazda Navajo. No problem. Mercury Mountaineer? No problem. Lincoln Aviator? Again no problem. Then I asked them if they were aware that they were all the same vehicle. Yep. But they still wouldn't do it. Some serious stupidity somwhere in the U-Haul corporate office.

Yeah. Then they won't let Mountaineers, Navajos or Aviators tow either.

No the stupid thing is that they DO allow those others to tow, but NOT the Explorer.
