Is there a video or instructions for removing the FPIU skid plate? Or am I just going to have to take the time to psych it out?

Be sure to take notes/pictures and post them here for others that may wish to do this. A 'Search' of the Forum did not come up with anything. I don't know of the PIU Upfitters Guide would be of any help. Good luck.

if its the front one thats metal(that im thinking of) its actually pretty easy just gota take off the front part of the wheel liner on both sides and zip the 2 side bolts(on each side) and the 3 or 4 on the front of it. i believe they are 15mm. iv had to drop one side of it on my 14 a couple of times for random reasons. the bolts for the wheel liner are either a 5.5mm or 7mm i believe there is 2 or 3 of them on the underside before it goes up the wheel arch. can then pull it down enough to fit either an impact or a ratchet in. the plates bolts may be abit rusty depending on where you live so penetrant may be your best friend on that.

Its not hard to remove. I removed mine to cut weight and I don't need it. It just unbolts.

Sounds like the information that I was looking for, thanks!

How did you get a wrench on the nuts on top of the plate to hold them while turning the bolts?

Welcome to the Forum.
Just to clarify. Do you have a PIU or sedan?

Peter

All you need is a 15mm socket. The two on the sides (driver/passenger) are self tapping and the three in the middle have j-nuts. So no wrench if required to hold any nuts.

If they are damaged from the road then you might need a 16mm.

On my 2018 FPIU the skid plate is all plastic and is just held in place with few bolts.

On a 2016 FPIU it is metal and the front two bolts have a nut on the top which leaves no room for a socket and the angle is bad for a box end. When turning the bolt on the bottom it will spin the nut on the top. I guess I’m going to have to manufacture a tool for the top nuts. Thanks for your input, I have a feeling I’ll leave it off once it’s gone since this is strictly a street machine.
I’d leave it alone but I’ve got to get to bank 2 secondary o2 sensor so I can put in a spacer to eliminate the bad converter code.
