Hey Guys,
Just had the transmission on my Explorer rebuilt ('02 Limited) a week ago. Had a shift kit put in, and replaced everything as my bands had broken. My problem is it now has a massive hesitation when shifting from 1st to 2nd.
It feels like it loses 50% power when shifting. You actually keep moving forward but the explorer doesn't. Then it gets a kick in the guts and keeps going. I guess its like fuel surge when you take a corner with a low fuel tank in a car. Also the severity of the hesitation is directly related to how hard you are driving.
Here is the interesting thing though....
If you manually shift through the gears then there is no problem at all with 1st to 2nd. First to second shifts perfectly. However when shifting manually it doesn't seem to hold 3rd, it goes straight into 4th, then repairs itself. This doesn't happen during normal driving. (Acceleration in Drive)
What could it be? I had it back at the workshop and they re-checked all the bands etc, and everything was firm and fine. They want to pull the box back out but I can't afford to lose it for another week. Of course this is all under warranty. Someone suggested it could be motor related, but it never did this before the rebuild.
Has anyone had this issue before? Any help would be great.
No codes show up either
Thanks guys
