explorer express sells 285/50-18 od 29.6" V rated tires to accompany their 18x9 cobra r wheels ...

does that setup work w/out rubbing? or do you need spacers?

why is it that all the tire setups that explorer express offers are wide tires? 255 is the minimum width and it's for 15", 275mm for 17" and 285mm for 18"

are those the recommended tire widths?

im gonna assume u have 235/75/15 stock on ur car now.. going to the 285/50/18..ur tire size increases, and definately from 235 to 285.. u have a greater chance of rubbing. however, i think lowdpypes is running a similar tire size setup.. but he also has it lifted a bit i think. u should pm lowdpypes and see if he can give u measuremtns on how close he is to rubbing with his. but he also has different rims, with a different offset too.. so that might be a factor.

I have a set of 18" Cobra Wheels with 275 tires on 'em. Had the X jacked up tonight and mounted the wheel/tire combo on it with no spacers and turned the steering lock to lock. The wheels don't touch anything, but the tire bounces off the swaybar well before getting to full lock in either direction.

I'm still seeing tons of threads regarding spacers. Well this is the best I can tell you. I am ordering 1.5" adapters from performance wheel and tire tomorrow, and when I get them in I will post pictures and a full report. I think that as long as you choose an adapter/spacer that is built very whell, you can't go wrong.
