My 95 X is leaking around the front yoke drivers side. What can I do? I called the dealer for a laugh, he told me it would cost around 2500 to repair. He also said, I would have to replace all the gears in the yoke.

maybe get an estimate from another shop, look around for a decent local name. Since you are in the marines, I'm sure you could ask around base for a good shop to take it too.

Your Pinion seal is leaking? You could try and replace just the seal. I'm sure if you do a search on here you'll find something out. Good luck.

My dealer just quoted me $100-$125 to replace the pinion seal. The higher price included 1.5 qts. of gear lube (guess I'll be buying my own lube and leaving it in the truck). Shop time is $98/hr. and should take about an hour. I'd do it myself but the crush sleeve/preload needs to be properly set and I don't have the tools for that.

I think your dealer mis-diagnosed the problem........

What the hell, $2,500? So I guess they are replacing the entire front suspension and driveline? I would have laughed in their faces and walked right out.

Thanks for the help, and yes I did just that, with a few other choice words. After all he got my wife for a good chunk of change on the transmission and rear end acouple of years ago.
Thanks again. I'll have some time off soon, then I can do something about it.

I just had mine done for $75 which included the seal, fresh lube, and a drain plug installation. They also installed a new pinion (the new seal still leaked) for just the cost of the part. ($40)

If you do not mind, Who did the work?

It was a local shop here in Monroe, MI called Dave's Transmissions on Detroit Ave. Their number is in my cell phone which (of course) is out in the car. I know it can be found on Switchboard.com or yellowpages.com.

Local shops are the best places.... just make sure they're reputable before you go there. I like to stop in at the local performance shops and see who all the racers go to.... they'll usually be the best bang for the buck.
