Hi.

Does anyone have a step by step removal and reinstalation of the whel bearings on a 4X4 explorer 1991 with pictures???? I had to change them..thats ok but the spacers on both side are not in the same order on both sides. It would really help because I want to stop that "clok" noise when my right wheel bearing turn...maybe its the automatic hub that not engage correctly.

Help !
Thank you guys:thumbsup:

Ask and you shall get...

Glacier's Brake diary thread has lots of pics and info on replacing the front wheel bearings.

just did mine today not too bad at all probly a 3 out of 10 on the difficulty meter

exploded view

I need a real exploded view of it because the Glacier1991 post is good but i dont see my bearings on it so i need to get a real exploded view before i install my bearing and it explode :D
Thank you

picture 22 and 32

I have two more spacers but dont know the order to install them...maybe thats the spacers in the hub cover...dont know

do you have manual hubs?

i have automatic hubs.
heres is two pictures that show exactly the parts.
thank you for asking;)

#one is a spindle nut for manual hubs and #2 looks like a spring for manual hubs....did you take both sides off or just one?

Mine are auto hubs exactly like the one posted by Glacier because i have a cam like him and the two plastic washer..... is there a plastic cam with two springs in manual hub? I have a 1992 4X4 explorer. I took off both sides and thats why i ask for exploded view because it was installed differently on both sides

"is there a plastic cam with two springs in manual hub?"....no... im at a loss here buddy

take a picture of every thing you took off

for some reason i cant access my email...just keep posting and i will refresh the page every minut or so..

ok heres the other parts picture one is the hub cover...picture two as you can see there is my 2 plastic rings, my spacer with the lock clip and the cam that is surronded by his two springs

but my second picture dont upload even if its small in size..maybe a problem with the site

ok when you take the hub off, there is the plastic cam(peice with the springs)...you remove the little c clip from the axle shaft followed by the washer with teeth on the inside of it...then the plastic cam...then the wedge....then the nut...............pretty much every thing Glacier covered... if you have exactly what glacier showed as far as the nut and such any thing else dosent really belong...

oki thats bizarre why there are those parts:P maybe it was manual hub but the guy put an automatic hub and left the parts there.anyway i will see if somebody else have ideas what are those parts used for. than kyou
