About a year ago I replaced the driver side front brake line on my 1998 Explorer sport with a Motorcraft OEM unit. It appears it has ruptured again and I am wondering what could be causing this?

A brand new brake line should not rupture after a year. All of the other brake lines on the vehicle are original to the vehicle, which is 12 years old and has 210,000mi on the clock.

interesting to me is that the brake lines are pulled very tight when the front wheels are turned all the way in, almost to the point of stretching them to an unsafe point.

Looking for advice on this as it seems this is highly unusual for a brand new Motorcraft brake line to last less than a year of light use- when the others have been on for 12yrs.

Thanks for any help.

I bought a new one for my truck winter before last, and it rusted again this winter and leaked. Some of these replacement lines are garbage. Salt eats them up in no time....

Companies are making a new product made from copper and you can buy it by the foot. But you have to flare the ends yourself. But the stuff doesn't rot....

Thanks for the tip, Looks like I will be doing that way...

Bogus replacement parts suck....

Here's a link to the copper nickel alloy line I was talking about. I saw it the other day in 50 foot rolls for $112.00. Then you'll need to rent or buy the flaring tool.
