Front Bumper Fit Issue

I wanted to follow up and say THANKS to my Ford dealer Kevin's Royal Automotive and John from Ford Customer service and Engineering here on this forum to get my problem resolved...
You’re very welcome, expoman55.

I’m glad to learn the dealer resolved your concern.

Thanks for sharing, and I’ll be here if you need me! :D

Hope you didn't deal with Haldeman Ford for your issues?! Do you have a part number for the piece they replaced the third time?

How did you know? I do not have the part number but I have to call tomorrow to make an appointment. I am now having the same issue on the passenger side and I am getting water inside the headlights. I'm not happy at all.

I feel your pain! I saw you your location and put two and two together. If you don't mind me asking, Did you use the Allentown or Kutztown dealer? If you ever have a free minute read the recent Google review for Haldeman Ford in Kutztown. I had one of the worst service visits in my life. They pretty much screamed at me for buying a Ford and not a Rolls Royce. Hope you have better luck than I did trying to get things fixed. Btw I had the mirror turn signal light that had water in it and they refused to do it at first because in the manual it says it's normal to have condensation in your lights. Good luck!

Eco, & Laust. I am sorry you have had dealer issues. I am fortunate mine has been pretty good. I hate seeing people even on this forum saying that because we didnt spend 20k + more on a vehicle we should essentially accept sub standard issues or problems. Not many years ago 50+ was a dam expensive car.. Sorry folks but it is to me.. Make NO mistake 50K is a crap ton of money. Don't want to hear the RR cracks.

Hi all I'm new to this forum and have a 2015 XLT. My left front bumper pops out and I can see that the clip is broken. I never hit anything but the dealer won't replace it. I have the part number 17E814. Unfortunately there are several different prefixes to the number and I don't know what they are. It seems like this is a commonly broken part. Does anyone have the full part number and a source. The dealer wants 33.00 for the piece of plastic.

Thanks,

5sport... contact Tricia above.. from Ford.. She can contact your dealer. John did that for me from customer care even before i went to dealer. Because of the folks at CCare my truck went in on a tuesday morning and was back all fixed RIGHT THE FIRST TIME and out on Wednesday afternoon including first oil change... John from Customer care did it right. and communicated the entire way with me and dealer. PM me if you need any more details.

From my earlier post if you need part information:
'They replaced a bracken Part Number # BB5Z 17E814 B on the driverside that is a bracket that bolts to the under side of bumper and frame. Dealer explained how they break. I am hoping this is the end of it.

How ever I posted the part number for your convenience. The Ford Engineering team were great working with the dealer .

Since you are still under warranty there is no reason that the dealer shouldn't fix this especially since there isn't any sign of the vehicle hitting anything.
FYI, some members have had to make several trips before it was finally fixed right. As mentioned, you should contact the Ford rep on this forum. You can use this link; http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=157968

Please add the 'model' of your Ex to your profile so that it appears in the margin. That can be very helpful info at times. Thanks and good luck.

Peter

Thanks everyone. The car is a lease and I should just leave it until I turn it in but these little things bug me. It looks like I can get the part for less than 20.00 delivered. I won't have to deal with this dealership and can be done in about an hour.

I appreciate everyone's help.

Great forum

Expoman55. Thank you for the part number. 19.00 on ebay and 45 minutes to install and the part is fixed. Now I won't have nightmares about the fit on the bumper trim and I wont go back to that dealer.

Thanks again for everyone's help

2015 Explorer LTD

Had the "pop-out" issue since vehicle was purchased in Feb 2015. Dealt with it for awhile then finally took it in Aug 2015. They replaced a "clip". Problem resurfaced shortly thereafter (2-3 weeks). A 70 MPH headwind would cause it to pop-out as well as normal city driving would eventually do it after a day or 2 as well. Took it in again Dec 11 2015. They said its a "common" problem and that it appears to be "factory" related on my vehicle. They readjusted (aka bent) some things around...put some putty/glue in a hole they said was oblong rather than round. So after some putty and and some essential "duct-taping" maybe it will hold now. You'd think after spending the better part of $50k for a vehicle that putty and duct-tape solutions wouldn't be req. First American made vehicle I've purchased for a # of years. Not feelin' the love... :us:

Welcome to the Forum. :wavey:
I would think the fix in post 127 might have been a better solution. But if what they did fixes it, that's what matters.

Front Bumper

I'm also experiencing this issue with my 2014 XLT. I'm taking my second trip back to the dealership where I purchased my vehicle today after they failed to fix the problem yesterday. 2 hour drive round trip and I'm extremely frustrated... I've had to take time off work both days not to mention all the gas and time I've wasted going back and forth. I really wish I could take my vehicle to the dealership that's 3 miles from my house but the dealership I'm working with is insisting I drive all the way back to them. Why isn't there a permanent fix or recall for this!? I love my new vehicle but am extremely disappointed with this issue and regret buying this $30k SUV.

You won't see a 'recall' for this. A recall is issued for "safety" related issues.
Also, this isn't actually a very common occurrence even though there are 7 pages in this thread, many of the posts are replies to those that have/had the issue. I believe that if you go back through the posts that you'll find that there are members who have had this successfully repaired.
Your dealer is likely insisting that you go back to them so that they make the $$ on the problem. You can take your Explorer to any Ford/Lincoln dealer of your choice. Your warranty is valid no matter which dealer you go to.

Thank you for the welcome and reply! I appreciate all the info you have given me. I called the Ford dealership right by my house and will be bringing my Explorer there today so they can take a look at it. Hopefully they are familiar with this issue and will take care of it for me. I'll update when I'm done.
Thanks again for all of your help!! :)
