I get a random message about the front sensor inoperative...sensor blocked? Adaptive cruise control will not operate. Dealer ordered a new sensor and should be in this week. One year anniversary yesterday, 18k miles, this is the first issue I've had. Of course when I shut off and restart the message is gone and I can't seem to find a cause. It did put a code into the computer which the dealer picked up, and I guess the remedy is to replace the sensor.

A few months after I picked up my Explorer I decided to try the Park Assist and received an error message saying something to the effect that the system was inoperative. Turns out that it was a bad right front sensor which the dealer replaced, after having to have it painted first.
In your case I assume it is the radar sensor that is bad.
