My airbag has been on since I bought the truck a few weeks ago, flashing me code 42...and from searching this site that points to the front crash sensor.

Well, I was looking over the truck today and decided to check that front sensor to see if maybe the connector just needed to cleaned. When I unbolted the sensor from the bracket and removed the connector...not only did one of the pins come right out of the sensor, I found this...

Hmmm, my airbag light has been on since a recalibrated the compass. I think I may need to take a look at the sensors and see what's up?

Did you count what code it flashes before it stays on? That will give you a good starting point as to where to check first.

Replaced my broken one today...no more airbag light!!

I tried scanning it with my SCT3 a while back with no luck. I'll just have to poke around and see what the deal is.

Let us know what you find out.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell happened to that sensor that I took out.
How the connector end got bent like that while being bolted to a 90* bracket that shields the entire sensor is beyond me.

I'll get on it this weekend if I can. The only thing that comes to mind for me is that I hit a snow mound when taking a corner this winter. The only other time the light would come on before that is if it sat outside and got below freezing, the ABS light would be on too. I could turn it off, start it up and the lights would be gone? It's a mystery and with all the electronics on these things, it's just bound to happen.

This picture is exactly how mine looks.
Can I put power back to the car without this sensor plugged back in or will this blow the bags?
I can't seem to find this topart today to get it fixed and will need to drive the car but am afraid to hook the battery back up for fear the car will think it was hit due to missing sensor.

I left mine unplugged for over a week without problems.

Reach through the front bumper openings below the grill. You can feel it but it is hard to see.

my truck was totalled from behind, hit a minivan in front and neither went off. perhaps we need another brand?

If you are hit from behind you are pushed back into your seat not forward into the steering wheel/dashboard

If I'm not mistaken, he said he was hit from behind and was pushed into someone that was infront of him? If so, then if the impact on the front was great enough, the bags should have deployed.

where is this sensor located i need to check mine acording to ford lol

nvm ignore that i see now lol sry about that

my truck had two codes b2292 and b2296 ones pretensioner service kit or some crap and front severity sensor acording to ford not sure where the pretensioner is or w/e tho ill fix it myself once i find it i refuse to pay $500 in labor when i can do it plenty fine myself

hmm i cant find this dang thing spent about an hour looking lol cant find it at all any other tips?

Look through the opening in the lower/center of the bumper, you will see a black plastic(rubber?) air diverter lip, right under that is the bracket for this sensor...

...I rested my phone right on top of the license plate bracket to take this pic.
