Front differential cover removal

Looking to change the fluid in the front diff and was planning on removing the cover to drain it but it looks pretty tight in there, can the cover be removed without removing the diff from the Exp on a '05 4x4 4.6L?

I know i can suck the old fluid out without removing the cover but I would like to take a look inside.

My new 05 had a small leak in front diff (plate seal). Ford dealer said 4 hour job, have to pull axles to get to it. Hope this helps.
