Hello all,
I've developed a heavy vibration only when my hubs are engaged, whether or not I'm in 4wd. I'ts worst around 20 mph but occurs at any speed. My mechanic can't see anything obviously wrong. The slip yoke on the front right axle may not be in it's correct postition, though he can't see why or how it would cause this vibration. The next thing he wants to try is to tear down the front diff, which recently had 4.10's installed.
ANY ideas anyone?
Thanks,
J.B. Earl

Well before you have the mechanic tear into the fron diff (which shouldn't be your problem anyway) I would have the front U-Joints changed. It would be my guess that the U-Joints have gone bad and are allowing too much play in the driveshaft, therefore causing the vibration. Crawl under the front end and grab the front driveshaft and give it a good yank! If it wiggles then you need to have your U-Joints replaced. It wouldn't hurt to have the U-Joints in the front axle checked too. Hopefully this is some help. Good luck!
