I probablly should've asked this question when I first starting greasing the Explorer but it keeps slipping my mind. How many grease points are there on a '92 4x4. I see 2 lower ball joints, 2 tie rod ends, and 2 fittings for the steering linkage. What worries me is I don't see any upper ball joint grease points. Are the uppers sealed?
Am I getting all the spots that need grease?
Thanks!!

they are sealed. thats all the points i can remember...but if ur u-joints are greaseable...then do um up or theyll burn up..not pretty if neglected.

Thanks! Well, my u-joints are already toast!! Front u-joints at the wheel are rusted, clunk when in 4x4 and need replacing ASAP. Driveshaft u-joints are getting bad, and getting vibration at certain speeds. I'm trying to work up the energy and research posts on here to try and replace these!! But will try to find greaseable ones when I do eventually replace.

u joints are cake.

Really? Looks like a tough job to me. I don't even know how the hell to get the drive shaft off to work on the u-joints let alone how to get the front u-joints out from the spindle assembly. MUD BUG...you done them before?
Also...why are the upper ball joints sealed and the lowers not? Do the uppers have a boot I can inject with a needle grease fitting?
