Front end problems

94 Explorer , 4x4 , I put both hands on top of either front tire and push/pull , I feel and hear what sounds like a click or popping sound. What part of the front end should I be looking at and what might physically tell me the part or parts are bad? I was thinking the wheel bearings or maybe the shafts going into I assume would be the hub's.

Have somebody do it while you look behind the wheel. Look for where the play is. Ball joints is a good possibility.
