OK, so I have finally saved up enough money to buy all the front end suspension stuff I want/need to replace. I have made a list of things I want to replace, and I will be replacing them in the next 8 weeks in my Steering and Suspension Autos class. I just want to make sure I am getting the right things from RockAuto, because I want to order everything once, and have the right stuff. So here is my list, please let me know if anything needs to be different, and my truck is a 1996 Eddie Bauer V8 AWD.

Wheel Bearings (2)=Timken, Part Number#SP450200, Price: $100.99 Each
Inner Tierods(2)= Moog, Part Number#EV317, Price: $27.79 Each
Outter Tierods(2)= Moog, Part Number#ES3302RL, Price: $26.79 Each
Camber Adjusters(2)= Moog, Part Number#K80065, Price: $18.34 Each
Shocks(2)=Monroe, Part Number#37177, Price: $30.79 Each
Sway Bar Links(2)= Moog, Part Number#K7275, Price $6.83 Each
Sway Bar Bushing= Moog, Part Number#K80025, Price $9.52

The next two things I am unsure about. I am not sure about previous maintenance on the truck. But as for the upper ball joints I saw that Moog offered Upper Control Arms with a Ball Joint installed, and since I am installing camber adjusters anyway I might as well just get new ones right? But for the lower Ball Joint I am lost, there are so many options, anybody have a suggestion??? I would Prefer Moog.

Upper Control Arm W/Ball Joints= Moog, Part Number#K8708T, Price$48.79

Lower Ball Joints(2)=??? Suggestions Welcome. :)

Thanks for any suggestions, I would hate to get the wrong parts, I do also realize that my prices are a little bit off, it because I looked up all the parts a month or two ago.

Would recommend the Moog arms with the ball joint already installed. Used them on my rig, quality is top notch. Worth it to renew your control arm bushings.

For the lower arms, I got the AC Delco ones with the ball joint already installed. Quality is good, made in Spain. No experience with the other brands. Glad you are using good quality parts instead of buying a low-dollar kit on eBay full of substandard parts.

There are very little things were you can cheap out on in a Vehicle, and Steering, and Suspension components is NOT one of them. Plus I would like to get to the 300,000 mile mark someday.

if your upper ca's are OE, you'll need to get the new arms not just the bj's, but that's okay because you'll get the new bushings with the arms (at least on the driver's side). are you going with the one piece ca on the passenger side, or the 2 piece?

I honestly don't know, pretty much why I posted this here, because I want to get good quality parts, but also order them once, and have them work. what is the difference between the two, besides the obvious? In my mind besides the looks, the only other thing to the one piece is possible saving a little weight.

As koda2000 said, the benefit of the K80068 UCA is new bushings and updated design.
Also, it does NOT appear the Moog K8710T two piece UCA ball joint can be pressed out.
Two piece does have more caster adjustment which helps tracking when ride height is altered.

Ford used a 2-piece control arm on the passenger side for additional caster adjustment. 1-piece passenger side control arms are available to replace the 2-piece design. If your uca bushings are still good, and your not planning to lift your truck, it's a little easier to install another 2-piece design uca. As far as I know, the OE ca's must be replaced because the ball joints can not be pressed out of the OE uca's. As far as quality, you can't really do better than Moog.

If you're ordering Moog parts from RockAuto, hit the "info" button while the parts are listed. There's a lot of information, installation instructions, pictures and suggestions on the part you're looking at.

So Pretty much one piece on the driver side, and 2 piece on the passenger side? and this is mainly for adjusting for alignments? I do not plan on lifting my truck, but I do want to level it, but I have a feeling with new shocks, and ball joints I will be close to level. I guess of the stock design has worked since 1996, I might as well keep it that way.

Yeah, the 2-piece design was good enough for me when I did the ball joints on by '01 EB this past October.

Don't expect new ball joints, uca's, shocks or a wheel alignment to have any effect on leveling your truck. Ride height is determined by torsion bars and springs. You could try Monroe Load Leveler shocks on the rear if it's sagging (kinda a cheap coil-over shock absorber).

Go with the ONE piece K80068 since you're installing camber kits anyway.
Take your time removing the front drivers side UCA bolt, it can be a PITA.
One piece is definitely stronger although it may be more difficult to align.

I know it is not the same truck, but my buddy got new ball joints, and other various front end suspension stuff replaced on his Dodge 2500, and it lifted the front end up about 1 1/2in... but his were severely worn out. I already have Sensa-Traks, and new leaf springs on the back of my truck, so the back is good, with the exception of the 5th shock, and sway bar links, but those are coming soon. After all this stuff is done, I am undercoating EVERYTHING. I have a long summer ahead of me, I know.

I am still deciding, I am going tot think that price is going to sway me to one or the other, I mean they do the same thing, and both do it almost the same way, so as long as it works, it should not matter. Regardless I will be buying Moog though.

Sorry for the double post, but I cannot get the multi-quote to work for whatever reason.

Just make sure you do all your leveling and tweaking adjustments BEFORE front alignnment.
Your '96 may also have weak torsion bars and need a TT to level and make both sides even.

Is this due to Age, or is it a common problem? If I need to replace them can I just get a set form a newer version Eddie Bauer?

Torsion bars weaken over time like any coil or leaf spring would.
Degradation is very gradual and it's sometimes difficult to detect.
They should be your last step after you have everything else installed.
Primary function is for setting ride height and leveling the both sides.
Not often replaced, that's what the torsion bolt adjustment is for.

Good to know, I spoke to my Teacher today and he said the same thing, he also said that aligning my truck will be very easy due to the camber adjusters, and that I will also need to adjust the ride height first, which will help the negative camber I have currently. I am fairly certain I know what I am doing, and I will be under the watchful eye of my instructor, so hopefully everything will got well for me.
