My 2014 Sport's Front Lower Air Dam split in the middle of the rectangular air intake opening. I think it was struck by a rogue chunk of concrete bouncing about a Detroit freeway. There is also a sizable gash alongside the split.

Can anybody here outline the removal and replacement of the lower Front Lower Air Dam ?
(looks like the part is about 110ish on ebay)

Have you gotten under there and taken a look yet? My air dam came off when I was pulled in reverse out of mud. All the clips came loose but if I remember correctly it was held on by some screws. I just had to align and pop the clips back into their slots on the car. I'd get under there, look for some screws, remove them, and then pop the clips off with a non-marring tool.
