I need to remove the plastic trim panel that goes around the radio and the various a/c and fan control knobs. The problem is the cigarette lighter. This is what I use to power up my IPhone battery with and it pushed through the hole in the panel when I pushed the phone charger in recently. I can't pull it back through so I need to remove that panel. Does anyone have a schematic of how it comes off? It's a 99 Explorer XLT. I have an aftermarket radio in if it makes any difference.

Couple of screws above climate control a/c, and then just pry it from the edges little by little, if it is to rigid, use some plastic flat tool to pry it, it should come right off. Lighter assembly is then visible, its held by only one screw I think.

unless you pull the radio first, it will come out with the bezel.

There are several threads here about repairing the
cig lighter hole in the bezel.

I epoxied a large washer behind the hole to reinforce
it, then installed a new cig lighter. That's a weak point
on the bezel, many lighters push through and break
the plastic.
