Front PowerTax No-Slip in a 2001 Ranger

The PowerTrax no-slip works great I went out today on a tail that I had my old 95 Explorer on a few times that has a hill that in the summer when it was dry with the sway bars off and running Goodyear MTRs my Explorer allways made it about half way, today with my 2001 Ranger with BFG M/T and a front PowerTrax No-Slip made it in the snow and made it look EZ. I was with my son he has a 98 Jeep TJ he tried the hill there was no way, but he like the show I was giveing. We had a great time I think the cost of the locker was well worth it. I had both front and rear tires off the ground at times and the truck did great I was just creeping up the hill tacking my time we had a blast.

A front locker benefits us IFS guys greatly because we lift our front tires so much.

Yes this will fit I have the same front end as you but a locked front axel and a Auto 4x4 do not mix

Well, i've got the AUTO problem fixed, so that's no big deal for anyone that has a 97+. How much did this baby cost you and where did you find it at? I'd pay any amount of money for one of those!!!!!!!!!!! Good to hear you ran all over the jeep! Keep the good stories coming!!

Explorers with auto four wheel drive are VERY different from what I have. Gerald has volunteered to be the first to give this a try. If it works for him, he can pass his experience along.

My biggest concern is a bunch of people will go out and do this and be very disappointed. There is life risk involved when you modify a vehicle unless that modification has been tried and tested EXTENSIVELY! We are not to that point yet.

That's a really good deal!

I'm running the 265/75/16 BFG's AT's right now locked in the rear with a powertrax.

Would installing this locker up front be overkill and a waste of money for having only 32" tires, or will it be worth it you think?

Man, that is a good deal. I called a few places today and the lowest i got was 374.

Jason--i was kind of thinking the same thing. My explorer, like yours will take me where i need to go with the no slip in the back and my mud tires on. But there have been a couple of times where i wish i had a front locker. I might go ahead and put some money back and get one this summer because i'll be starting my full time job after school and i'll be getting a company truck so i'm thinking that next year maybe i'll be able to put a lift on my truck and bigger tires! This way i'll already have the locker in! Gears will come too, but i'm getting side tracked! I'm thinking about it too, i'd be nice to have, there wouldn't be much you couldn't climb i would think with a locker in the front and the rear.
